Women hold just 12% of investment committee seats and 23% of investment professional roles across emerging market infrastructure funds – and the policies to change this are largely absent. This paper, produced jointly by IFC and Oliver Wyman, establishes the first dedicated baseline on women’s representation in this asset class, drawing on original data from 44 equity and debt funds and expert interviews across the investment lifecycle. For LPs and GPs, it goes beyond diagnosis. A four-part framework covers fund governance, portfolio strategy, investment screening, and monitoring – with distinct guidance for equity and debt investors. As inclusion criteria become more standard in LP due diligence, GPs that can demonstrate progress will be better placed to raise capital and build more resilient portfolios. This paper gives both sides of the market a shared starting point.
