The series Capturing Hydropower’s Promise features suggested approaches on implementing local benefit sharing in hydropower projects, along with good practice examples. Grounded in extensive research and culled from the experiences of public and private developers, the study highlights ways in which hydro projects can support local communities and their development priorities, beyond mitigation and compensation.
The series also features in-depth case studies on how local benefit-sharing approaches are put into practice. The case studies provide an inside look at the opportunities and challenges for hydro project developers as they strive to incorporate benefit sharing into their operations.
